The Domos are staring at you…and drinking lemonade

I am different from most collectors. Most collectors tend to collect a certain type of item. Me, I collect everything. Well, not dead cats. I have to have to have boundaries, you know.

In my head, it is nice to imagine having a large collection of just one item, but that’s pretty much impossible with me. I like everything. I can’t possibly collect only one thing. My myriad of collections include stamps, coins, stationery, kawaii items, TV collectibles, pin back buttons, artwork, greeting cards, magnets, action figures, action figure accessories…I mean, I go on and on. It’s ridiculous.

I am particularly fond of figures of all kinds. They can be easily displayed on any flat surface and, let’s face it, it’s fun to use props. Yes, that’s a Pikachu cupcake.

The figures you see above are from the brand Qee and are two inch vinyl figurines of the popular Japanese character Domo, a monster-like creature with large white teeth. Vinyl figures like these are also called blind box figures because they are parts of sets where you don’t know which individual figure you will get. In most sets, there are higher chances to get certain figures and lower chances to get others. There are a total of five series released and comes in over 75 different designs. There re also other versions, including superhero Domos and glow-in-the-dark Domos.

Unlike most vinyl figures, these figures have movable arms and legs, which would make posing with props even more amusing. When it comes to most collectibles, people often ask “What’s the point?” The point is I am collecting something that I like and that it brings me enjoyment. That, and it’s quite sad to be taking photos of, let’s say, pens and tiny cups and pretending that they’re figures drinking lemonade.

I love Domo. I’ve loved Domo for so long, ever since that little monster was at Target, and that’s when my husband (best friend at the time) got it for me. I still have that Domo. I have other Domos that I want to pass onto younger generations because he’s so lovable!

Who cares what people say? Collect what you love.

Remember always, Domo is pure awesomeness!

  2. I collect a lot of different things too. I had to become more picky lately because it’s really starting to pile up, haha. I have a weak spot for blind boxes, even though I have the worst luck with them. I keep trying anyway!

I love your Domo collection. They’re cute, and I like the patterns on them! That’s a plus that their legs and arms can actually move. If they make you happy, then that’s enough reason to keep collecting them 🙂

  3. That Pikachu cupcake is so cute.

I wouldn’t call myself a collector, but I do like to collect stuff – I don’t actively go out of my way to get it, though. So for example, the one thing I do collect is shot glasses from the different countries I’ve visited. My collection is only small, at the moment, but it shall soon grow and TAKE OVER THE WORLD! (jk)

I love Domo. I made my Domo cupcakes for my sister’s birthday one year 🙂

  4. I know how you feel. I collect way too many different things! Figures, animal stuff, plushies, flutes, just so much! I don’t know how people can choose one thing! Sadly, it makes my room cluttered. XD

  5. It can be a lot of fun collecting different items! Blind Box items are also a lot of fun because you don’t know what you are going to get! 😀
